Workplace Fairness Provides Resources for Workplace Whistleblowers for Today's National Whistleblower's Day
Organization has facts and resources on workplace whistleblowing issues for all employees, employers, employment lawyers and workplace equality advocates
SILVER SPRING, Md. (July 30, 2015) Today's observance of National Whistleblower's Day recognizes courageous whistleblowers who fight back against employers who violate the law and misuse funds. Whistleblowing can be risky and scary, and a whistleblower may not be protected if not blowing the whistle in strict compliance with the law. Workplace Fairness provides resources and tips about the laws that protect workplace whistleblowers. Our Whistleblowing & Retaliation section, with over 50 pages of newly-updated content, provides the information workplace whistleblowers need to do the right thing.
Our Whistleblowing & Retaliation section can help relieve your concerns and stress when disclosing corruption or wrongdoing. It provides you with general information about the act of whistleblowing such as:
- General Information About Whistleblowing and Retaliation
- Filing a Whistleblower Claim, including new state whistleblower updates for all 50 states
For employees of a particular industry looking to file a whistleblower claim, Workplace Fairness has compilations of frequently asked questions for a number of federal whistleblower laws:
- Airline Employee Whistleblowers -- AIR 21
- Environmental Whistleblowers -- OSHA
- Food Safety Worker Whistleblowers -- FSMA
- Government Fraud Whistleblowers -- False Claims Act/Qui Tam Action
- Trucking Whistleblowers -- STAA
- Whistleblowing with a Security Clearance
On our updated Federal Employee Whistleblowers -- Whistleblower Protection Act page, Workplace Fairness answers questions frequently asked by federal employees reporting legal violations or government waste or fraud by government agencies, whose rights were enhanced by the passage of WPA amendments in 2012. The section includes frequently asked questions:
- As a federal employee who engages in whistleblowing, how does the law protect me?
- Should I keep my wrongdoing to the Office of Special Counsel?
- What is considered a "personal action"?
Workplace Fairness also has updated resources for Corporate Whistleblowers: Sarbanes-Oxley/Dodd-Frank whistleblowers. When these laws were passed in response to major financial scandals, they contained support for employees who take the risk to report a company's wrongdoing or corruption. Our newly-revised page answers questions such as:
- What are the laws that protect corporate whistleblowers?
- What must be proved to win a case?
- What conduct is considered to be "protected activity"?
