Media Advisory: January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month
Workplace Fairness is #1 Most Comprehensive Online Resource for Information About Workplace Rights
WASHINGTON (Jan. 12, 2021)
Dear Journalists,
Please share this information with your readers. Workplace Fairness is promoting it in an effort to help stop human trafficking.
WHAT:
The national nonprofit, Workplace Fairness (WF), advocates for workers' rights and offers this important information during National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month.
Human Trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery. This crime occurs when a trafficker uses force, fraud or coercion to control another person for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex acts or soliciting labor or services against their will. Force, fraud or coercion need not be present if the individual engaging in commercial sex is under 18 years of age.
Human trafficking is happening all around us. Victims are often hidden away, but it is possible you will encounter individuals or situations of concern. Knowing how to ‘spot the signs’ could save lives. If you have any suspicions about human trafficking in your area you should report it. If you see something, say something. Call the National Human Trafficking Hotline / Get Help 1 (888) 373-7888
WHERE:
Find social and legal services for victims and survivors of human trafficking, and connect with training and volunteer opportunities across the U.S. and its territories at the National Human Trafficking Hotline / Get Help 1 (888) 373-7888.
Workplace Fairness publishes a weekly newsletter, Workplace Week, which covers news and commentary on critical issues affecting employees and their advocates. Find helpful and more comprehensive information at https://www.workplacefairness.org/
